The Chronicles of Illusion:
The Intuition, The Ego, and Consciousness

By: Joshua Zuchter

"It is ironic that we are here to awaken to that which we were asleep so that we may then let go of all the things we have to thus awoken."

-Joshua Zuchter

These days many people are searching for the meaning of life and in doing so, are discovering that there is more to life than just Monday-Friday, income and expenses, eating and sleeping, saving until retirement, and gains and losses.

Over the past 15-30 years this wave of searching has taken place and is reaching a critical mass. More and more people are beginning to awaken to the possibility and to the potential reality that there is more to "them" than they ever realized.

This searching has led to a great find, that at deeper levels a duel is taking place. This duel is a confrontation that is the cause and at the heart of all inner and outer battles, all emotions and all resistance.

The world is awakening at a much more rapid state than ever before to the provocative yet simple reality that we as human beings have both an ego and a non-ego aspect to who we are.

However, there is one subtle yet extraordinary shift taking place now that we have not seen before... we are not only learning about awakening and what some call enlightenment, people are actually EXPERIENCING it en mass!

Whether it is through moments of revelation or illumination that occurs every so often or in one fail swoop, a soul just awakens and as such we are at a significant juncture in our evolution as a species.

This all comes down to the existence of these three elements: the intuition, the ego, and consciousness.

The ego goes by many names and includes the intellect, the mind, the shadow, the subconscious, our masks, judgment, and so on. Although very seemingly active and dynamic, the ego consists of recordings - thoughts that we call beliefs, perceptions, expectations, lessons, memories, and future contemplations. If you are familiar with the concept of a box inside of a box, inside of a box to near infinite levels, then you will have a slight glimpse into the levels, layers, and complexity of the human mind.

The more active and engaged the ego, the more stressed, tight, wound, anxious, nervous, worried and depressed one can become.

With this said, and on the other side of these negative elements, an assumption is often made when one is feeling good that this is because there is a pleasant emotion and that this must mean there is less ego present. But this is not the case either as most people's happiness is based on the amount of money, luxury, and things one accumulates.

For example, as your income, savings, and profits increase you begin to feel more secure and free. This is, however, still an illusion of the ego as your happiness is dependent on a concept of money or belief about what the increased money can do for you. This is still an ego based thought and concept and is just one of many examples of areas of life within which we experience the ego in full force. Others include relationships, health, and wealth.

Another example, would be looking in the mirror and feeling really good about what you see physically, only to find that there is an ulcer or a sprain on the inside. If we take this example deeper, we could say that the whole body is fit and healthy, yet emotionally one feels lost. Again the illusion in the mirror and even in the physical body is that all is well, yet, again, this is a false joy that comes from an external illusory image or concept of who and what we believe we are. There again, arises the word believe. Although our beliefs serve us, they also keep us locked in to the ego.

The ego therefore is that aspect of us that is also attached to those things it perceives. The more it has, typically the better it feels - temporarily. Then, all-of-a-sudden the ego reaches a point when it also begins to fear losing what it "thinks" it has and then moves you to gain more.

... What a mess!...

The key question then is... what exists in the absence of the ego?

This is really the essence of all enlightened teachings, the purpose of meditation, and the reason why I now promote only two programs: The Sedona Method and a program I created The Discovered Art of Core Journaling... which you can now purchase as a home study course!

In the absence of the ego, our true nature thrives. And there are no words, no books, and no teachings or speakers that can do justice in relaying to you what your true nature is or even what the experience of Being is like. Your true nature must be experienced to be understood, not the other way around! And ironically, the experience itself exists unto itself free from understanding, contemplation, or judgment.

For explanation purposes, my colleagues and I refer to it as Consciousness or awareness. When in the state of non-ego, or awareness, there is no judgment, no thoughts about the future and no holding on to past memories or experiences. When in a state of awareness or what some call Being, you are simply in a state of peace, calm, joy, and clarity. You are also present.

Intuition therefore, is the transmission that exists between Consciousness and the ego, which then perceives, judges, and uses the transmission.

This is the reason why the ego actually does serve a purpose and has its place. The ego allows you to experience the highs and lows of life. We could say the ego is a spice of life. This does not mean that if it is absent that there is no spice. Life simply has a different taste to it when one is egoless. It has been my experience that once one tastes the experience of egolessness one never wants to go back. This is also the beauty of our current times as many are beginning to awaken to egolessness, to experience the state of awareness in which time and space cease to exist, in which one experiences the true infinite nature of who and what we are.

This is the gift of the intuition, the ego and Consciousness.
