What is Co-creation?
Dear Friend,
If you could be at peace with all things and inspired at the same time, would you choose to?
If so then read on...
Today I want to share with you an interesting quote that is transforming how I look at life. It came to me when I was speaking with a colleague... Denise Daniels, a gifted internationally renowned opera and classical singer based here in Toronto.
The quote that came to me during our conversation was a result of our discussion about how many people work hard to make a living and as a result suffer the consequences of the flu, cold, and many other physical symptoms.
The beautiful quote is...
"When we are co-creating with our body, there is no need for the body to rebel or to become sick."...
At first glance this is very simple. But more and more, I am realizing the true power behind this quote.
Our discussion was around the concept of what alternatives we (as human beings) have with perceiving life as work? In other words, if we didn't see life as work, how could we view it? What would be our ideal? And the insight that came was that rather than life being work, instead it could be an...
ADVENTURE.
If you saw any of the Indiana Jones films then you can probably relate to this concept of adventure. If, when you were young, you tried to get lost so that you could find your way home again, then you have experienced this thirst for adventure. If you have wanted to read the next Harry Potter novel, then your adventurous streak is calling you.
Can you imagine being excited to wake up each morning, so that you could experience another adventure? And what if both you and your husband/wife/partner woke up each morning excited about what you would attract together along the path?
Our lives would be quite phenomenal.
Adventure, though, is only one side of the coin. Adventure is what YOU get to experience from life, in other words, what life gives to You.
The other side is the component that we often forget about and that is your contribution or put into simpler terms... a calling, in other words, what others receive from you.
Like the Yin and Yang, as discussed in the law of polarity, for every black there is a white, for every up there is a down and so on. So on one hand YOU get something out of every experience, this is the adventure. On the other hand others receive something from you, this is contribution. So for what we are discussing here, for every contribution there is an adventure and for every adventure there is a contribution.
As an example, I will be speaking for the Learning Annex in Toronto on March 13 th at 1:00pm ( J ) with a group of three other individuals. The day workshop is called Improve Your Life.
I will be contributing to participants' lives by offering techniques, exercises and other interesting and inspiring ideas that will help them to Improve their lives and attract whatever they truly want in life. That is what THEY receive. I receive the joy of speaking (one of my passions), the satisfaction of assisting them, seeing participants smile, and ultimately long-term clients.
The contribution is what they receive, the adventure is what I receive.
The only thing about this though, is that there is a lot of "You" and "Me" here. And the deeper I seem to go with the work that I am doing, the more the line seems to blur between You and Me and We as one species, one universe, one "thing".
And so the next question that came that inspired the quote that began this Edition of Be-Inspired is:
What one word unifies adventure (receiving) with contribution (giving)?
What one word brings You and I together so that we are as one?
This is what came:
CO-CREATION!... TION ... TION ... TION ... TION
There is no You or Me in co-creation, there is only We. And so I would like to offer this beautiful question that came as a result of this awareness...
How can we work together?
This may sound very simple, but I began to realize how this is usually only applied to "working" relationships. The reason why I became so intrigued with this question is because we can apply this to every area of our lives, including our relationships with our physical health, in marriages, our emotions, our minds, our family, our finances, and even our purpose or calling.
This is how the quote sounds when you substitute the word colleague with body...
"When we are co-creating with our colleagues, there is no need for our colleagues to rebel or to become sick"...
"When we are co-creating with our husband/wife, there is no need for him/her to rebel or to become sick"...
"When we are co-creating with our children, there is no need for them to rebel or to become sick"...
Denise Daniels , who was involved with me in the co-creation of this question/concept at the time of this conversation added that she and I ...
"were riding the wave together..."
And so with this, how can you work together with your body? (this means being open to what your body is asking for... and your body is more than likely not asking a hot fudge sundae!)
How can you work together with your mind?
How can you collaborate with your colleague or team to achieve what is in the best interest of the team? How can you ride the waves with your partner?
How can you collaborate with your wife/husband? 0r put another way, how can you support each other?
How can you work with the universe to experience joy, peace, and bountiful beauty each day?
Co-creation involves many qualities including openness, listening, seeing, honesty, clarity, fun, adventure, contribution, mutual respect, joy and love to name a few.
When we are consciously co-creating, that is when we see the magic in life, the fulfillment of our desires, the manifesting of our dreams.
And so I leave these questions with You to consider:
Who could you work together with?
What can you collaborate on?
If money were alive, how could you honor each other and work together in co-creating?
How can we work together with our neighbors down south and overseas?
How can we work together to develop and beautiful world of peace?
May You experience the bliss of co-creation in all ways.
And until next week, Be-Inspired.
Love,
Joshua
